What we said
Twilight zone episode with Spielbergian vibes on the big screen
My experience was an amalgamation of influences with one good performance, tied together with a sense of adventure and uncertainty. It wears its Spielberg-esque inspirations on its sleeve - early eights, kids of bicycles, dinosaurs brought together with modern people. Some relatable family themes are expressed, with a strong performance from Hathaway and a somewhat meek, naive characterisation from McGregor. I was never quite sure where it was going, and there was one unpredictable standout moment that made stakes real. I loved its weird science fiction imagery. It was fun, ultimately felt like a twilight zone premise blow up into a big screen romp, and a decent time if you are in the mood for it.
